Michael Baker Corporation (Baker) was founded in 1940 by Michael Baker Jr., and quickly attained recognition as a premiere engineering design and survey firm through superior project performance for the U.S. military, preceding World War II. Following the death of the founder in 1977 and a corporate restructuring in 1984, major ownership and control shifted to an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), and the Company began a period of steady growth in size, scope of services, and financial stability.
Today, Baker (www.mbakercorp.com) provides architecture, engineering and construction services for its clients' most complex challenges worldwide. The firm's primary business areas are aviation, defense, environmental, facilities, geospatial, homeland security, municipal & civil, pipelines & utilities, rail & transit, transportation and water.
